Tyler Thomas Thesis

I love the format of her thesis. She wrote it in a play format, which was really cool because it was something Tyler Thomas was interested in. We all know she is an actress and she chose a book/movie to do as her thesis. Being able to incorporate her interests was the best part about her entire thesis. Not that I’m putting her thesis down or anything it was great! I like how she breaks it down into scenes. Not only did she write about the movie, but about government and the background of V for Vendetta which gave a certain realness to the book/movie. Tyler explains what V is trying to achieve and what that actually means. It is such a great paper as I love both her writing and her thesis. Format actually adds a lot to a thesis.

Golden Ratio Mask

So back to one of my favorite actors. What makes someone attractive? One theory is the golden ratio. "The golden ratio is a number (approximately 1.6180339887) based on the proportions that occur in nature." So they made a mask that is proportional based off of the golden ratio. That is what you see on Matty above this post. He is not only is he just beautiful, he is scientifically proven perfect. I do not know how I could turn this into a thesis though. Maybe I could do something related to why society picks some people as being beautiful and how the golden ratio contributes. I'm not really sure.

Robin Bowman thesis response

I read Robin Bowman’s thesis about making the VPAC a suitable place to hold choir concerts. I must confess, I know nothing about music or choir so I was confused when reading her thesis. Not saying that she didn’t explain it well but I just do not get it. But it was really interesting. I remember her presentation a few years ago and her solutions to the problem. She had a lot of sources. She separated her thesis into parts. I like how she explained the experiment part of her thesis. She even included some graphs taken from her experiment. I’m not sure if this is how I am supposed to respond to a thesis (is it Mr. Engholm?), but I am just saying what I thought of it. I really liked her thesis topic because it was something she really cared about and that was evident in her thesis paper and presentation. I want to develop a thesis that is interesting to me and hopefully other people will find it interesting as well.

White Collar crimes

Okay so I was thinking about my favorite show, "White Collar". Then I started thinking about white collar crimes and how it is different from regular crime. Yesterday because I had such fantastic New Years plans I watched "Catch Me If You Can," a movie about white collar crimes. I don't know how to make this into a thesis but I could research white collar crimes. White collar criminals are usually put a lot of thinking into their crimes, like check forgery or art forgery. I'm not quite sure what to do with this. And because I love "White Collar," I thought I should include a picture of my favorite actor. Why not?

Impact of Crime Shows

I started watching Dexter last week and I am not sure how I feel about it. Don't get me wrong it was really good, but it's kind of...different. Then I started thinking about what kind of impact a show like this would have. I was reading about Dexter and this teenage a couple years ago said Dexter inspired him to kill his little brother. I don't blame crime shows but some people (mentally unstable people) take it a little too far. What about CSI and other shows like this? Just an idea to study the impact of crime shows.

XBOX Kinect

So a couple weeks ago when we went to Slidell for a robot presentation, we got to see how our mentor team used an XBOX Kinect to direct the robot's movement. Then on the way home with Mr. Bowman we discussed potential thesis ideas. One idea was to use the XBOX Kinect to make music. Kind of going off of Josh Parnell here, but so you dance and it makes music that fits or matches your dancing. So it would be programming, which I am learning about. This is just an idea.

The Perfect Crime

I love crime shows. And crime books. And anything having to do with crime. I have often thought about how to commit the perfect crime. Not because I want to kill someone or anything but just for thinking purposes. Perhaps this would be something I could explore in a thesis.
